The life of the artist

Born in La Habana, Cuba, and now residing in Miami, I draw inspiration from my heritage and the Renaissance, Baroque, and Romanticism movements, which emphasize the mind of the artist and the emotion behind the art. My work serves as a bridge between these two worlds, blending the richness of my Cuban heritage with the classical conventions of painting.

The immigrant experience grants a specific connection and insight to objects and art not only as mere things but as reminders of our cultures and the homes and countries we might no longer be able to experience. Through objects, we experience a reprieve from American life into the comfort and vibrancy of the places we call home and the traditions they have left us with.

The process

In my artistic practice I aim to capture the beauty, memories, and meaning behind objects. My artistic process is a dialogue between the past and the present, paying homage to classical compositions and techniques from a contemporary perspective. Stepping into the allure of a dark maximalist aesthetic and transcending temporal boundaries, inviting viewers to rediscover the timeless relevance of the still-life genre in a modern context and the meaning behind the objects and spaces that surround us.

Ultimately, my art serves as a testament to the enduring power of humanity and emotion, how the objects we have hold our essence within them, and how those objects can tell universal stories. Each brushstroke is imbued with intention, guiding the eye through intricate details and subtle nuances that reveal stories and symbolism within the stillness of the mundane.
